Privacy Policy

Account: your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure scrambled hash).

Profile: whether you're at school, university or a parent; your school or university and year (optional); your children's schools if you're a parent; and your area in Qatar.

What you post: listings and their photos, Wanted requests, messages, offers, ratings, reports and feedback.

Technical: your IP address and browser type, used for security and to stop spam and abuse; and small cookies that keep you signed in and remember your language and theme.

We don't handle payments, so we never see card or bank details.

We never show your exact address — only your area.

Photos you upload are cleaned automatically: hidden location data (GPS) and camera details are removed before they're stored.

We don't sell your data and don't show ads.

Your display name, area, listings, ratings and, if you choose, your school or university are public.

Messages are only visible to you and the other person in the chat. Our team can read a conversation only when it's reported or to investigate abuse.

To run the marketplace: accounts, search, listings, messages, offers, Wanted alerts and notifications.

To keep people safe: preventing spam, fraud and abuse, and handling reports.

To improve StudySouq, using totals and trends rather than individual profiles.

We only email you to confirm your email address, verify a student email, or reset your password when you ask.

Vercel (hosting and photo storage), Neon (database, hosted in the EU), Resend (sending verification emails) and Cloudflare (domain and security). They process data only on our instructions.

When you scan or type a book's ISBN, the number (not your personal data) is looked up with Google Books and Open Library.

We share data with authorities only when the law requires it.

Our servers and database are in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). By using StudySouq you understand your data is stored and processed there, by providers who must keep it secure.

We use a few essential cookies only: one keeps you signed in, and two remember your language and light/dark choice. No advertising or tracking cookies.

Your browser also keeps things like recent searches and recently viewed items on your device only. Clearing your browser data removes them.

While your account is open. If you delete it, your personal details are erased straight away; past chats and sales stay for the other person, shown as “Deleted user”.

Security logs are kept for a short time and then deleted automatically.

You can see and edit your profile, hide your school or university, and control notifications in Account.

You can delete your account yourself from Account → Privacy.

You can ask for a copy of your data or ask us to correct it through the Contact page (linked at the bottom of every page). We'll reply within 30 days.

If a security problem affects your personal data, we'll tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.

StudySouq is for people aged 13 and over. Under-18s need a parent or guardian's permission. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, tell us and we'll remove it.
